Janeth Peña is the Chief Scientific Officer at Sandia Biotech. She completed her Ph.D. in Biology with expertise in Invertebrate Biology, Parasitology and Molecular Biology at the University of New Mexico. In her dissertation work she studied unique invertebrate biology that may disrupt the lifecycle of a blood fluke that infects humans. During her pursue of a PhD, she realized she loved talking to people about science, this led to her participation in outreach events where she shared her experience in pursuing a higher-level degree and methods of overcoming academic hurdles. She was involved in STEM programs that maximized student success by codeveloping several STEM workshops. Janeth is passionate about giving an opportunity for the youth to learn and grow in knowledge. In her current position, Janeth aims to assist/facilitate in the pursuit of growth for the Life Sciences industry in New Mexico. |
